Why did you decide to earn a degree at Harvard Extension?

Since I earned my bachelor’s of science in electrical engineering in 2001, I've always wanted to complement my degree with information management skills. I found Harvard Extension School's graduate program to be the perfect fit. It offered comprehensive coverage of database management and software engineering. Additionally, it provided great flexibility in class schedules, which has been key in helping me decide to pursue the growth I've always dreamt to acquire.

What was the most rewarding part of your Harvard Extension experience?

Seeing my projects completed and fully operational is definitely the most rewarding. In the Information Management Systems program, we had to develop websites and write a ton of code. And when it worked, it always put a huge smile on my face to see the coding come to life.

What was your on-campus experience like?

In many classes, professors conducted social meet-ups with students who are local to Cambridge, which was very helpful in fostering motivation, networking, and the chance to share ideas and experiences. It was exciting to meet with all my colleagues and spend the time together, especially when working on my capstone on-campus.

What types of student resources and special options did you take advantage of as a student at Harvard? How did they help?

Harvard Extension School has amazing resources that students can take advantage of. I have enjoyed participating in several Career and Academic Resource Center (CARC) sessions. They helped me learn how to boost up my skills for my career and enhance my professional conduct. The Harvard Extension Student Association (HESA) has always made sure we know about events to interact with colleagues and professionals. The Harvard online library, Widener Library, and the computer labs have been my second homes, providing great resources that helped me complete my final projects.
