Honoring Trailblazers in the Fight for Human Rights

Human Rights Day, observed on December 10, commemorates the United Nations’ adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. At Harvard Extension School, we are proud of our many students who dedicate their studies to supporting human rights—from reporting on the immigrant experience to advocating for Ethiopian orphans.

In honor of this day, we’ve compiled a list of quotes from great leaders who have fought for the rights of marginalized groups. We hope they inspire you to stand up for someone’s rights today.
