Timothy Mills, MS

Tim Mills lectures at the Harvard Extension School on project management and has been a professional project manager for over twenty years. Mills is a retired Lt. Colonel in the US Air Force, where he managed acquisition, testing, and development and implementation of fighter aircraft, telecommunications, and ballistic missile programs. While in the US Air Force, Mills was the logistics program manager for the US Onsite Inspection Agency, Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. Mills provided expert logistics project management strategies to the US State Department, National Security Agency, and Central Intelligence Agency for the USA/USSR INF Treaty On-Site Verification Program. Mills' project team was awarded the Secretary of Defense Superior Management Award. As a management consultant, Mills led various global programs and projects with KPMG Consulting and IBM Global Services, where he focused on information technology strategy, project portfolio management, IT design and e-commerce projects for multiple industry sectors. Moreover, Mills has been a university-level educator in business management, strategy, operations management, and project management for California State University, Sacramento and Northeastern University, and was a guest lecturer at the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Currently, Mills is director of the portfolio management office (PMO) for Lahey Health in Burlington, Massachusetts, where he oversees a project portfolio of more than 50 projects valued at $400 million. Mills is a certified project management professional (PMP), certified scrum master (CSM) and an active member of the Massachusetts Bay chapter of the Project Management Institute.
