Thomas A. Underwood is acting associate director and Master Lecturer in the College of Arts and Sciences Writing Program at Boston University. He is the recipient of the Arthur G. B. Metcalf Cup and Prize for Excellence in Teaching, Boston University's highest teaching honor. For his work at Harvard College, he earned more than a dozen citations from the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. He is also recipient of the Extension School's James E. Conway Award for Excellence in Teaching Writing. Underwood's books include Allen Tate: Orphan of the South.
