Thomas A. Underwood is a senior lecturer (master level) and curriculum coordinator in the College of Arts and Sciences Writing Program at Boston University. In 1997, he won the Arthur G. B. Metcalf Cup and Prize for Excellence in Teaching, Boston University's highest teaching honor. For his work at Harvard College, he earned more than a dozen citations from the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. In 2006, he received the Extension School's James E. Conway Award for Excellence in Teaching Writing. Underwood's books include Allen Tate: Orphan of the South.
