Sallie Martin Sharp, PhD

Journalist
Sallie Martin Sharp has taught college journalism since 1994. She was an attorney in Washington, D.C., and in Austin, TX, before leaving her law practice to become a full-time journalism professor. After completing her undergraduate journalism degree, Sharp worked as a newspaper reporter, magazine writer and editor, and public relations writer for Austin's NPR station, KUT. She continues to edit professionally and to write freelance stories while teaching college journalism classes. Sharp has a BA in Journalism from LSU; a Master's degree in Journalism, with a focus on international news coverage, from the University of Texas at Austin; a JD from the Georgetown University School of Law; and a PhD in Communications from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a certified Amherst Writers and Artists writing workshop leader.
