Lisa A. Gulesserian, PhD

Lecturer on Armenian Language and Culture, Harvard University
Lisa Gulesserian is preceptor on Armenian at Harvard University, where she teaches Armenian culture courses and elementary and intermediate Western Armenian. At Harvard and elsewhere, she has taught courses on memory, traumatic pasts, ghosts, female revolutionaries, and contemporary Armenian film and literature. She earned her PhD in English from the University of Texas at Austin with her dissertation about post-memory in Micheline Aharonian Marcom's Armenian genocide trilogy. Her current projects include publishing a book-length monograph on Marcom's novels; developing new multimodal materials to teach Western Armenian; and collaborating with the Armenian International Women's Association (AIWA) to produce a literary translation from Armenian of Srpouhi Dussap's nineteenth-century feminist novel, Mayda, forthcoming in 2020.
