Joanne Matott, DPhil

Dr. Joanne (Jo) Matott began teaching at the Harvard Extension School in 2019. Previously, Matott served as a teaching assistant at Harvard College and as core faculty for Mind, Brain, Behavior, and Disease (MBBD), and tutor at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Matott previously held a research instructor appointment at HMS and investigated mitochondrial dysfunction in aging, sleep deprivation, and neurodegenerative disease. Recently, Matott transitioned into full-time undergraduate teaching as preceptor in the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard College. Matott was a first-generation student and originates from London but has made her life in Boston since 2006.
