James P. Herron, PhD

Director of the Harvard Writing Project and Preceptor in Expository Writing, Harvard University
James Herron is director of the Harvard Writing Project, a program that works to improve the teaching of writing at Harvard College. A linguistic and cultural anthropologist, Herron's research focuses on Latin America, race, linguistic pragmatics, economic anthropology, and indigenous social movements. Herron has held research fellowships from the National Science Foundation, the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, among others.
