Heidi Vollmer-Snarr, PhD

Senior Preceptor in Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Harvard University
Heidi Vollmer-Snarr joined the Harvard faculty in 2019 as Director of Advanced Undergraduate Laboratories and Senior Preceptor in Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB). She oversees all of CCB's advanced laboratory classes, conducts research with undergraduate students, develops curricula, and teaches organic chemistry courses. In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Vollmer-Snarr is a co-author of Organic Chemistry with Biological Topics and serves on the American Chemical Society (ACS) National Committee on Chemistry and Public Affairs. She has also served on the National Institutes of Health study sections Small Business Sensory Technologies and Visual Systems. Prior to coming to Harvard, Dr. Vollmer-Snarr studied chemistry and German at the University of Utah (BS and BA 1997). She completed doctoral study at the University of Oxford (PhD 2000) and then worked at Columbia University as an NIH Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In 2002, Dr. Vollmer-Snarr joined the faculty of Brigham Young University as Assistant Professor of Chemistry. From 2013 to 2018, she was Lecturer of Chemistry at Stanford University.
