Heidi Hendricks, ALM

Coordinator, Harvard Library Preservation Services, Harvard University
Storytelling binds Heidi A. Hendricks's life-long fascinations, aspirations, and eclectic portfolio career as a writer, writing teacher, music producer, and academic administrator into a unified whole. While tutoring writing and English as a second language, Hendricks earned her BM in music production and engineering from Berklee College of Music. After leaving a career as an audio engineer and concert production manager in order to pursue independent creative projects, Hendricks came to Harvard in 2008 as a part-time academic administrator. In 2016, Hendricks graduated from the Harvard Extension School's master in liberal arts (ALM) program in English literature. After serving as an Extension School teaching and research assistant for four years, Hendricks began teaching expository writing at the Extension School in 2017. As an artist who fashions stories from sounds, words, images, and experience, and as a researcher intrigued by the intricacies of narrative and interconnectivity, Hendricks believes that stories connect human beings by feeding our imaginations, fueling empathy, and creating our possibilities. As a writing teacher, Hendricks encourages students to explore language and ideas as they work to hone the critical reading, thinking, and inquiry skills that serve as the foundation of excellent academic writing.
