Edward Rodley, MA

Ed Rodley is an experience designer who has worked in museums for over twenty-five years. He was most recently the associate director of integrated media at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM), where he managed a wide range of media projects with an emphasis on temporary exhibitions and the reinterpretation and reinstallation of PEM's collections. Incorporating emerging digital technologies into museum practice has been a theme throughout his career. During his career, he has developed major exhibitions on the Soviet space program, Leonardo da Vinci, and Pixar's design process. Rodley has developed audio tours, websites, and digital publications. His recent publications appear in The Routledge International Handbook of New Digital Practices in Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums and Heritage Sites; Humanizing the Digital: Unproceedings from the 2018 MCN Conference; CODE|WORDS: Technology and Theory in the Museum; and Mobile Apps for Museums: The AAM Guide to Planning and Strategy. He writes about museum issues at his blog, Thinking About Museums and is one of the hosts of the American Alliance of Museum's (AAM) Museopunks podcast. He is also the lead instigator of the Boston edition of Drinking About Museums, one of longest running informal meetups for museum-interested peoples in this global movement.
