Sample Course Path for the Premedical Program
The Premedical Program is a part-time program and is generally completed in two years.
You begin your studies in the fall or summer. Due to the scheduling of prerequisite courses, you are not able to begin in the spring.
* Medical school applicants: Students needing preparation for the MCAT should take CHEM E-17 and CHEM E-17L. While a second semester of organic chemistry remains a matriculation requirement at many medical schools, the content of the course is not necessary to prepare for the MCAT. Students wanting to further their foundation in organic chemistry, or those needing two semesters of organic chemistry for specific medical schools, can take CHEM E-27 either in the spring semester or in the application year.
RECOMMENDED PATH
While the program is individualized to meet the needs of the student, a typical curriculum may look like the following:
Year 1
Fall
Spring
Year 2
Fall
Spring
ALTERNATIVE PATH
Alternately, a student may complete the premedical curriculum in a more compressed timeline. This approach is generally not recommended. Any student attempting to do so is strongly encouraged to discuss this option with an advisor in the Premedical Program.
