JOUR E-169 Designing Stories for the Web
Spring Term 2018 CRN 25050
In the digital realm, journalists, bloggers, and web designers need to engage readers in new ways, creating stories that are both eye-catching and factually accurate. This team-taught course highlights the crucial connection between form and content. Students alternate journalism assignments (how-to articles, opinion pieces, and local stories) with practice using content management systems like WordPress and editing HTML. They set up stories with embedded tweets, video, and hyperlinks or in a listicle format. In the process, they learn marketable skills as digital journalists and content producers.
