There are a few career services available to all Harvard Extension School students. Degree candidates also have access to exclusive services.
Career counseling
Linda Spencer, assistant director of the Office of Career Services, offers drop-in counseling to all students. She can answer quick questions about career options, cover letters, job search strategies, and interviewing. Want feedback on your résumé? Bring a copy with you or e-mail it to carc@dcemail.harvard.edu.
Appointments—about 15 minutes each—are available Mondays from 1 to 4 pm (last appointment at 3:45 pm), September 12 to May 7. No registration is necessary. Just come by the Undergraduate Office, 51 Brattle Street, Room 501, or call (617) 495-9413.
Degree candidates and alumni only
The OCS offers a variety of career services to Harvard Extension School degree candidates and alumni. Visit the OCS website’s section for students for a list of available services.
Career counseling appointments
Linda Spencer offers career counseling for degree candidates and alumni. She can help you explore career options, develop job search strategies and interview skills, use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (a personality assessment tool), revise résumés and cover letters, and conduct mock interviews. To schedule an appointment, log in to Crimson Careers (see below) and select “Request an OCS Counseling Appointment.”

Crimson Careers
This database features hundreds of job and internship listings from employers interested in Harvard College, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and Extension School degree candidates and alumni. Museum studies, journalism, and sustainability and environmental management candidates: you can use this to find internships that could count toward your program. New listings are added daily.
- Current student? Log in to Crimson Careers using the e-mail address that is on file with the Extension School and Harvard ID (displayed on your Harvard University ID card) as your password.
- Alumni: Self register using your Post.Harvard e-mail account. (To register for a Post.Harvard account, visit the Harvard Alumni Association website).

On-Campus Interview Program (OCI)
Harvard Extension School 2011–12 graduates are eligible to use the fall 2011 On-Campus Interview Program. OCI brings employers on campus for full-time, first-round job interviews for graduating students. Interviews are held in late September and October. The majority of the employment opportunities are in finance, consulting, and information technology.
To participate, you must:
- Have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA
- Attend the mandatory orientation on August 30, 5 pm, Office of Career Services, 54 Dunster Street, Cambridge, Mass.
- Meet with Linda Spencer, assistant director, Office of Career Services
- Attend the On-Campus Interview Program fall career fair, September 9, Sheraton Commander Hotel

Career fairs
Every fall, OCS hosts the Harvard Job and Internship Fair, which provides an opportunity for degree candidates and alumni to talk with 75 prominent organization representing many different industries.
This year, the fair is on Friday, October 14, 1:30–4 pm, at the Sheraton Commander Hotel. Harvard ID required.
In addition, OCS offers many smaller, industry specific career fairs and expos throughout the year. Industries represented include advertising, marketing, and public relations; energy and the environment; human rights; and journalism. Register for the OCS-DCE listserve (see above) to receive timely announcements about upcoming fairs.
Finally, each spring CARC hosts our own Employer Networking Night for Harvard Extension School degree candidates and alumni only. For 2012, the date is Thursday, March 29, 5-7 PM at the Harvard Faculty Club. Register through Online Services, CARC.
Spring job search support group
Join this group to help achieve your goals, overcome obstacles, and stay motivated. The group meets once a week for 1.5 hours, March 22 through May 3 (no session on March 29), 3:30-5 pm at the Office of Career Services, 54 Dunster Street.
The group is for current degree candidates and alumni who are actively job hunting or about to begin the job search. The success of the group is contingent upon your commitment to supporting others and coming to the majority of the meetings. Attendance at the first session is mandatory. If interested in attending you must register by contacting Linda Spencer, Assistant Director, Office of Career Services, at lspencer@fas.harvard.edu, 617-496-8946. Space is limited, so register early.
