Harvard Extension School accepts cash payments in person at Student Financial Services during regular business hours (Mondays–Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 am to 5 pm; Thursdays, 10:30 am to 5 pm). Please do not send cash through the mail.
Harvard Extension School accepts bank checks, money orders, personal checks, and company checks made payable to Harvard Extension School. Checks must be drawn on a US bank and include proper routing numbers. Any bank collection charges are your responsibility.
If you submit a check drawn on a bank account other than your own, you must include your name and the month and day of your birth on the check.
If your check is returned unpaid by your bank for insufficient funds, stopped payment, or account closure, you are assessed a $25 charge per returned check. Checks may be converted and processed using the Automated Clearing House (ACH) Network, under the rules governed by the National Automated Clearing House Association and the Federal Reserve Bank.
If you are a Harvard University staff member on the regular payroll, you are eligible for TAP if you have worked at least 17.5 hours a week since July 1 for fall courses and November 1 for spring courses. You pay a $40 nonrefundable registration fee per course, for a maximum of two courses per term.
January session courses count toward the spring term total.
Harvard Division of Continuing Education professional development programs are not covered by TAP.
You are encouraged to register online. If you have not previously registered for Extension or Summer School courses, please register online as a new student. Your name and date of birth must match exactly the information on record with the Benefits Office. After you choose your courses, select “Apply TAP” to complete the TAP benefit form. Your TAP benefit will be automatically credited to your tuition charges during the online payment process.
If your TAP benefit has been applied to a course that you would now like to change, you must drop the original course before adding the new course to avoid being charged the tuition for the new course.
If you are unable to register online, call Student Financial Services at (617) 495-4293.
TAP fees are nonrefundable unless a course is canceled.
If you have questions about TAP eligibility, call the Benefits Services Group at (617) 496-4001.
Veterans may be eligible to receive education benefits. All questions regarding eligibility should be directed to the Veterans Administration at (888) 442-4551. Information is also available on the GI Bill website. For certification of benefits once eligibility has been determined, call Student Financial Services at (617) 495-4293.
If you are eligible to receive Post-9/11 GI Bill educational benefits, you may register using these benefits as anticipated financial assistance without making an up-front payment, unless your benefit does not cover the full cost of tuition and fees.
To register using anticipated financial assistance, submit the following to Student Financial Services (SFS) during the registration period:
To calculate your educational benefit amount, refer to the GI Bill summary on the GI Bill website. Questions about eligibility and benefit amounts should be directed to the VA at 888-GIBILL-1, (1-888-442-4551).
If you register using your anticipated educational benefit, but for any reason your benefit does not cover your balance, you are responsible for the outstanding balance. Payment must be received within 10 business days of the notification of your outstanding balance or you may be removed from your course(s).
For questions regarding the registration process, contact Joseph Frechette, account specialist, Student Financial Services, at sfs@dcemail.harvard.edu or (617) 495-4293.
