Opportunities for Teachers

There are those prized moments of connection with a student, when you realize a complex theory has crystallized in a mind or a book has created new insight. You value this about your work—watching students awaken to their potential. At Harvard Extension School, we want to help you experience as many of these moments as possible.
The best teachers are always learning. So engage your inner student with affordable courses and programs in a range of subjects.
Teach by day, learn by night
We understand adult students have hectic schedules. Most of our 600-plus courses meet in the evening in Harvard Square, and more than 100 are online courses. Degree programs may be completed part time.
Fall, January, and spring courses
Many courses are available at the undergraduate, graduate, and noncredit levels. You don’t need to be in a degree program to enroll.
Find courses in education, mathematics, history, environmental studies, and more using our list of subjects or course search.
Graduate degree programs
If you are interested in earning a Harvard credential while exploring a subject area in depth, several of our programs are particularly well suited—and even designed—for teachers, including the graduate programs listed below, which allow you to collaborate with fellow school teachers and learn from seasoned faculty.
- Liberal arts, including 19 fields of study
- Mathematics for teaching
- Sustainability and environmental management
Course citations
If you already have a degree but are interested in pursuing concentrated study, you can earn a citation for completion of four courses in select areas, such as web technologies, classical language, and religious studies and education. See Citations.
