Harvard Extension School provides many avenues for pursuing studies in the natural sciences, whether your interest lies in biology, physics, chemistry, biotechnology, healthcare, or the environment.
Through our courses and programs, you can learn from industry experts and Harvard University scientists, researchers, and medical school faculty. You will have access to state-of-the-art labs and cutting-edge research projects.

Degrees
The Extension School also offers degree programs that can help you gain a better understanding of the sciences, change your career, or explore a new industry.
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in sciences, environmental studies, or the history of science
- Master’s degree in liberal arts with a concentration in biology
- Master’s degree: biotechnology
- Master’s degree: sustainability and environmental management
Health Careers Program
The Health Careers Program provides an opportunity to complete the one year of introductory science courses required for application to medical, dental, and veterinary school. Advanced elective courses are also available if you already have a science background but wish to enhance your credentials.
Professional certificates
If you already have a degree but are interested in pursuing concentrated study, you can earn a certificate for completion of five courses in select areas, such as sustainability or nanotechnology. See Professional Certificates.
