Engage your inner student with affordable courses and programs in a range of subjects.

Teach by day, learn by night

We understand adult students have hectic schedules. Most of our 650-plus courses meet in the evening in Harvard Square, and we have more than 150 online classes. Degree programs may be completed part time.

Fall, January, and spring courses

Many courses are available at the undergraduate, graduate, and noncredit levels. You don’t need to be in a degree program to enroll.

Earn a graduate degree

If you are interested in earning a Harvard credential while exploring a subject area in depth, several of our programs are particularly well suited—and even designed—for teachers, including the graduate programs listed below, which allow you to collaborate with fellow school teachers and learn from seasoned faculty.

Professional certificates

If you already have a degree but are interested in pursuing concentrated study, you can earn a certificate for completion of 5 courses in select areas, such as web technologies and religious studies and education. See Professional Certificates.

Half-price courses through teacher scholarships

Available to teachers in New England-area middle and high schools, the Lowell Teachers Scholarship covers half the tuition of 1 Extension School course each fall and spring (undergraduate or graduate credit only). Scholarships are limited, so apply early.
