Announcing New Courses, Certificates, and Admissions Path for 2017–18
Planning ahead for the next academic year at Harvard Extension School? Course listings and new 2017–18 academic offerings—including five new graduate certificates—are now available.
This year, we’ve also made adjustments to the admissions process for graduate and undergraduate degree programs to make the pathway to admission more accessible.
More Than 800 Open-Enrollment Courses
You can choose from courses that meet online or on campus in the evening. Studying from a distance? Many of our on-campus courses also include an option to participate online. Additionally, some online courses include an intensive weekend class on campus to give you the opportunity to connect in person with faculty and peers.
Registration for fall courses begins Monday, July 24. Degree candidates who have been admitted to a program can register early, starting July 23. See the calendar for more dates.
We have designed five new graduate certificates in the following professional and liberal arts fields:
- Back-End Web Development
- Biotechnology Management
- Front-End Web Development
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Social Justice
We currently offer more than 30 graduate certificates. Many of our graduate certificates can be stacked toward a master’s degree, allowing you to earn a short-format credential on your path to a master’s. Find a certificate that interests you, and explore course options and degree stackability.
A Faster Track To Application Eligibility
Beginning in fall 2017, for most professional graduate degree fields students are only required to take two degree courses prior to admission. Management, finance, and liberal arts degree fields will continue to require three degree courses for admission.
By shortening the timeline for achieving application eligibility, our students can gain earlier access to the benefits of degree candidacy—including financial aid and expanded Harvard resources.
Visit the degree requirements page for your graduate degree of interest for a comprehensive overview of admissions requirements.
Reduced Tuition for Select Undergraduate Courses
To keep the path to admission affordable, we are now offering three degree courses—EXPO 15, EXPO 25, and MATH 3—for a reduced tuition rate of $1,000 each. We recommend beginning your undergraduate degree with these courses, as they ensure you have the writing and basic math skills to succeed at Harvard. However, they are not required as your first three courses.
