Academic, Graduate School, and Career Workshops

When you’re in school, you often have a lot on your mind. Trying to work out a thesis, picking a graduate school, and preparing for an upcoming job interview may be a few of the things percolating. The workshops organized by the Career and Academic Resource Center (CARC) are a great resource to help you overcome some of the hurdles you are facing, whether the challenges are academic or professional.

The workshops listed below are just a sampling of what are offered this spring. Be sure to go to the workshops page to see the entire schedule. Whether you’re a course taker or a degree candidate with one class to go, there is a lot to take advantage of.

Career workshops: getting the gig

  • Energize Your Job Search Boot Camp

Whether you’re just starting your job search or you have been on the hunt for awhile, this on-campus workshop is for you. Networking, cover letters, and developing your interview skills are some of the topics that are covered. 

  • Interactive Skills Lab: The Professional Introduction

Linda Spencer, the assistant director and coordinator for Harvard Extension School Career Advising, helps you develop a professional introduction in this workshop. Practice advancing these skills to enhance your networking in a relaxed and fun environment.

  • Your Best Foot Forward: Personal Skills for Professional Success

Your education and experience can sometimes only take you so far. Often, you have to rely on your confidence and potential in order to get to the next level in your career. Dan Yaeger, executive director of the New England Museum Association, teaches how to use your personal skills to find professional success in this workshop.
