Health Careers Program
With evening classes and reasonable tuition, the Health Careers Program (HCP) at the Extension School is a convenient and affordable way to complete the one year of introductory science courses required for application to medical, dental, and veterinary school. Advanced elective courses are also available if you already have a science background but wish to enhance your credentials. Through the program you may apply for sponsorship in your pursuit of graduate admission and, if you qualify, a Diploma in Premedical Studies.
Sponsorship Benefits
Once accepted to the HCP, you can qualify for sponsorship in the form of a composite letter of recommendation that includes
- personal assessment of your abilities by members of the premedical advising committee at the Extension School.
- an assemblage of excerpts from advisee recommendation letters.
- a summary of your fitness as a future medical student.
See Sponsorship.
Diploma in Premedical Studies
By completing the eight required introductory science courses at Harvard Extension School or Summer School, you can earn a Diploma in Premedical Studies. You may not have previously taken any of these courses at a different institution.
