This course combines two terms of introductory Latin into one semester. Rapidly progressing grammatical exercises are supplemented by selections of classical poetry and prose, read with a focus on recognition and comprehension of basic syntactical patterns. Prerequisite: previous study of a foreign language is helpful. (4 credits)

This course is a reading of Petronius' Satyricon with attention to reinforcing grammatical knowledge, and with a focus on the language and cultural context of Petronius' novel. Prerequisites: one year of college Latin. (4 credits)
