The required textbook is supplemented by a workbook and allows students to practice what they have learned in class. Other supplementary material such as videos, current material from newspapers, poems, music, and excerpts from children's books supports the learning process. (4 credits)

This course is a continuation of GERM E-1. Students continue developing their communicative skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Class work moves from guided exercises that cultivate the student's ability to apply correct grammar and syntax to more creative and independent uses of the German language. The course makes extensive use of technology (computer programs, the Internet, e-mail, videos) to promote and enhance students' comprehension of the German language, its speakers, and its culture. Prerequisite: GERM E-1, or permission of the instructor. (4 credits)
