About the Alumni Association

The Harvard Extension Alumni Association (HEAA) is an active and engaged group of more than 12,000 alumni in over 100 countries.

Its mission is to reach, serve, and engage all Extension alumni; to foster a lifelong intellectual and personal connection between the school and its graduates; and to provide the University with goodwill and support.

An invitation to participate

Extension School degree, certificate, and diploma program graduates automatically become lifetime members of HEAA and are invited to participate in a number of events, attend quarterly meetings, or run for office as a member of HEAA’s executive board. All HEAA members are encouraged to run for office in the next election, to be held in the late spring and summer of 2009.

History of the alumni association

The Harvard Extension Alumni Association was founded in 1968 by Edgar Grossman, ABE ’66, and Ella Smith, ABE ’66. To learn more about their experiences as founding members, read the Alumni Bulletin articles My Forty Years at Harvard Extension: Edgar Grossman Remembers and A Founder’s Perspective: Ella Smith, ABE ’66.
