Computer Services
Computer accounts
As a registered student, you are eligible for a free computer account on the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) system. An FAS account provides you with login access to FAS computer labs and FAS e-mail accounts. You may activate an account before classes begin each term and keep the account for the duration of the term in which you are registered. If you wish to activate your account during the first week of classes, you should register as early as possible during the registration period.
Degree and diploma candidates: you may activate an account once you are admitted to a program and keep the account for the duration of the program.
Campus facilities
Take advantage of Harvard’s computer facilities at 53 Church Street, the Science Center, and the Grossman Library to access the Internet or complete assignments. An FAS account is required to log in to computers at the Science Center labs but is not required to use the computers at 53 Church Street. You must have your own modem and an account with an Internet service provider to access Harvard’s FAS network off campus.
Computer discounts
Registered students are eligible for special student pricing on computer hardware and software from Apple, IBM, Microsoft, and GovConnection. You may review these special prices via online services. Choose “Computer Discounts” from the menu. For IBM and Microsoft products, you need a Harvard University ID and PIN to view and purchase prices.
