Requirements Summary

For most concentrations the 10 courses must include the following:

Proseminar 1
Field courses, including at least 1 graduate seminar in the field 6*
Elective courses, including 1 writing-intensive course or graduate seminar 2*
Thesis 1

* Psychology and biology concentrators must take a statistics course. Biology concentrators may use it as either a field course or an elective. Psychology concentrators may use it only as an elective.

For the literature and creative writing concentration:

Proseminar 1
Field courses, including CREA E-100r 5
English or foreign literature courses including 1 graduate seminar 3
Thesis 1

For the clinical psychology concentration:

Proseminar 1
Statistics 1
Field courses, 1 of which must be a graduate seminar and from the following:
  • 1 Abnormal psychology
  • 3 Clinical psychology courses, including the field placement course (PSYC E-380)
  • 2 Human psychology courses

An elective in neurobiology, medical anthropology, or psychological approaches to literature; or an upper-level course in statistics or psychology research methods (other than SSCI E-100a) 1
