Master of Liberal Arts

Elective Courses

The 2 electives should be courses that augment the principal field of study by introducing an interdisciplinary component or other methodological tools that may assist in the development of the thesis project.

One elective must be a writing-intensive course or graduate seminar in any ALM area or field except the field of concentration. Please note that seminars and writing-intensive courses are rarely offered in the Harvard Summer School, so you should map out your course of study accordingly.

The remaining elective can be taken in any area or field outside the field of concentration that counts toward the ALM. An additional proseminar taken outside the area of concentration counts as an elective.

To find elective courses, use the degree course search.
