How to Apply

To apply to the ALM program, submit the following:

Literature and creative writing concentration only: Applicants to this concentration must also submit original manuscripts in both fiction and criticism. Manuscripts are read twice a year, with submission deadlines of August 28 and February 5.

When to apply

The ALM office admits students on a rolling-admission basis. Notifications of admission decisions are sent by mail, normally within 8 weeks after receipt of the complete application. Students should apply for admission as soon as they complete the 3 preadmission courses.

Those intending to seek financial aid are also welcome to apply during the term in which they anticipate completing their preadmission courses, in order to be admitted shortly after grades are posted. Students who present more than 4 courses when applying pay an additional $125 late fee.

If students delay their application to the program more than 2 years after completing the proseminar, they are required to retake the course.
