New alumna reflects on family and personal ties to Harvard

In a June 4 Harvard Gazette essay, Paula Ehler reflects on her grandfather’s career at Harvard and on her own experience at Harvard Extension School.
Ehler’s grandfather, who was a chief gunner’s mate during World War I, worked as a janitor at Harvard for 17 years. Ehler grew up in Cambridge and returned to the Extension School at age 56 to finish her degree.
