Citations

Take courses in a focused area

Most students at the Extension School have college degrees and are taking courses for personal enrichment or professional development, not to fulfill degree requirements. If you would like to focus your studies in an area independent of a program, you can earn an Extension School citation for the acquired knowledge or competency. The opportunity may also be available if you are in a degree or diploma program. Consult a program advisor.

How to request a citation

After completing 4 courses with grades of B– or higher in a discipline within 3 years, you can request a citation. The citation will be noted on your transcript. Citations will not be awarded retroactively. The request must be made at the end of the semester upon completion of the final course(s).

Up to 2 previous courses completed from fall 2007 through summer 2009 can be counted toward the 4 needed for a citation awarded in 2009–10. There is no limit on the number of citations you can earn, but a course cannot count toward more than 1 citation.

Recognized areas for citations
