Refunds

Credit card payments are refunded to the credit card that was used. Harvard is not responsible for fluctuations in international exchange rates or interest charges due to the timing of credit card refunds. All other refunds are by check, made payable to the student and mailed to the address on record. Students are responsible for maintaining current address records at Harvard Extension School to ensure correct delivery of their refund checks. Refunds are processed approximately two weeks after the late registration deadline.

The amount of tuition refunded for course changes depends on the date the change request is submitted online, postmarked, or delivered to 51 Brattle Street; see the withdrawal and refund schedule. Students should keep documents as proof of submission of registration and course changes by the appropriate deadlines.

Students may request earlier refunds by contacting Student Financial Services via e-mail (sfs@dcemail.harvard.edu). A student who has paid by personal check must either wait 30 days from the deposit date of the check or provide front and back copies of the canceled check (obtainable from the bank) to Student Financial Services before an expedited refund is processed.
