Internship
Completing an internship enables you to gain experience in the field while earning credit toward your certificate. Past candidates have completed internships at Condé Nast Traveler, MIT Press, Perseus Books, and the Atlantic Monthly.
Requirements
If you are in good academic standing and have completed at least four courses toward your certificate, you may begin the internship process at any time.

Choose an internship. Identify an editorial office or publication where you would like to complete your internship. The internship must be done under the guidance of an editorial supervisor and internship coordinator.

Apply. Complete and submit an internship application form (available in the CPC Office).

Register. Once your application is approved, you may register for the course. An internship counts as one Harvard-affiliated-instructor course and is taken pass/fail. International students with an I-20 from the Extension School must register during the regular registration periods. All other students may register throughout the year. To receive credit for an internship in the fall term, register by December 7; to receive credit in the spring term, register by April 26. If you register after the April deadline, you will be registered in the summer term and may pay a higher tuition.

Get to work. Most internships take place during regular business hours, so you will need to plan your schedule accordingly.

Receive credit. To receive credit for your internship you must complete 200 internship hours and submit a written report about your experience. If you intend to graduate in June, you must complete the internship and ensure your internship supervisor submits the evaluation form by May 8.
