Overview

Experience all aspects of museum operations through a curriculum that combines theory, methodology, and practice. To earn the Master of Liberal Arts in Museum Studies degree, you complete eight courses (MUSE E-100, MUSE E-101, six electives), an internship, and a master’s thesis.

See Degree Requirements for details.

Getting Started: Admission to a Program

We consider success in prerequisite coursework at Harvard Extension School to be a key predictor of success in the program. Thus, to apply you must have completed three courses from the program curriculum and earned at least a B in each. Two of the courses must be MUSE E-100 and MUSE E-101. The courses count toward the program once you are admitted. Read about admission criteria and how to apply in Admission.
