Certificate Program to be Retired
Beginning fall 2009, the certificate program will be phased out. It is no longer accepting applications. If you have questions, contact the admission advisor, Maura McGlame, maura_mcglame@harvard.edu.
The Certificate in Applied Sciences Program introduces you to basic courses in computer science, mathematics, and physics, as well as specialized courses of immediate relevance to today’s high technology industries. This academically challenging yet flexible curriculum will enhance your current career, or help you embark on a new one within the IT field.
The CAS can be completed entirely online.
Requirements
To earn the certificate, meet the following requirements.
- Complete eight courses (32 credits) according to your concentration requirements.

Take all courses for graduate credit at Harvard Extension School or Summer School, and earn a B– or higher grade in each (B or higher in the three required for admission) and an overall GPA of 3.0. See Academic Standing and Enrollment.

Complete at least three of the eight courses with Harvard-affiliated instructors.
- Complete the program within five years of the first course. If you are unable to complete the certificate within five years you are retired from the program.
