Special Options

Faculty Aide Program

You may become a research assistant to a faculty member if you have a 3.33 or higher grade point average (GPA) and have completed four courses at the Extension School. This program provides an opportunity to sharpen your research skills while supporting faculty in their research projects. You can earn $12 an hour for up to 50 hours. Special Student Status

Special Student status at Harvard’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) enables you to enroll in two GSAS courses per term for one academic year. If you have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have completed four courses at the Extension School, you may apply with recommendations from the program director and two instructors. You pay the full GSAS tuition of $4,011 per course.

Consult Stephen Blinn by September 5 for spring 2009 and February 6 for fall 2009 to receive approval and a letter of recommendation. The program may not accept courses that are not preapproved.

Study Abroad

Harvard Summer School offers study abroad opportunities for 8 credits. Generally, the application deadlines are in early February and March. Before applying, consult the program office to determine which study abroad courses can be applied to your degree. The program will not accept courses that are not preapproved.
