Professional Communication Workshop Level E
Course tuition: noncredit $750.
In this workshop, students whose jobs or studies require them to present professional papers and lead or participate in academic discussions explore topics in a wide variety of fields and analyze their own performance as well as that of their classmates while they work at developing professional aplomb and mastering the linguistic and performance skills that inform effective presentations. Students read professional and contemporary literature, view academic lectures, critique and discuss examples of professional communication, and present their own formal talks, debates, and town meetings that are videotaped and subjected to careful peer and instructor review.

Professional Writing Workshop Level E
Course tuition: noncredit $750.
Students in this workshop, representing a wide range of professional and academic disciplines, examine the features that are particular to writing in different fields of specialization and work at enhancing their control of the finer stylistic aspects of contemporary and professional literature. Students practice quick-writing techniques and have opportunities to craft and peer-edit a number of extended formal papers via the process method—procedures that lead them to appreciate the nuances inherent in different registers of English and meet the challenges involved in producing increasingly sophisticated versions of their writing.

Communication in Business Seminar Level E
Course tuition: noncredit $750. Limited enrollment.
Designed for students with very strong English proficiency, this course emphasizes the importance of effective communication skills for achieving success in a wide range of business venues that value and reward cultural urbanity and scientific sophistication. Students follow issues in various media and conduct close readings of business cases and contemporary literature in order to examine and appreciate global sociocultural norms, write a variety of papers, make individual presentations, and participate in group and seminar discussions reflecting the demands and opportunities presented in rapidly changing economies.
