Mondays-Thursdays, 9-11 am and 1-3 pm.

This course is intended for mid-career business people who wish to communicate effectively in challenging international environments. Students learn to master cultural and linguistic nuances and closely analyze issues from different perspectives by reading a variety of texts, engaging in case studies, listening to faculty lectures on academic topics, visiting businesses in the Greater Boston area, and simulating multicultural business situations in speaking and writing assignments. Many classes are videotaped for peer and instructor feedback so that students may monitor their progress in facilitating teamwork, resolving conflicts, conducting negotiations, and making formal and informal presentations in support of their business objectives. With their registration materials, students must include a one-page resume and a letter that they write in English describing their international business experience and goals. The IEL January Session meets from Jan. 12 to Feb. 7.
