This course is a non-mathematical survey of the weather, with emphasis on the important processes and effects that shape the weather. The main topics include the nature and global circulation of the atmosphere; the dynamics of clouds; the origin of the various precipitation types; the development and features of mid-latitude storms like northeasters and tropical storms like hurricanes; thunderstorms and tornadoes; monsoons; and the difficult problem of forecasting the weather.
