Nathan
Residence: Albany, New York
Courses taken online: CSCI E-160 Java for Distributed Computing, CSCI E-131b Communication Protocols and Internet Architectures, and CSCI E-12 Fundamentals of Website Development.
Two online courses inspired Nathan to pursue a graduate degree at the Extension School. By combining online and campus courses to achieve his academic goals, he could maintain his position at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. With his master’s degree in hand, Nathan uses his new skills to his management position every day.
Erin
Residence: Ashland, Massachusetts
Courses taken online: ACCT E-120 Managerial Accounting and ACCT E-100 Financial Accounting Principles.
Erin lives only an hour from Boston, but she finds that the convenience of online courses fits into her busy lifestyle. She’s enjoyed watching lectures online and coming to class in Cambridge periodically for exams and a lecture or two. Next she plans to explore management courses online.
Bill
Residence: San Mateo, California
Courses taken online: Eight environmental management courses, including ENVR E-110 Ocean Environments and ENVR E-120 Environmental Ethics and Land Management.
Distance education has enabled Bill to complete online most of the coursework required for the Master of Liberal Arts in Environmental Management degree. He came to Cambridge for the summer to take a graduate proseminar, a research methods course that prepares students for the thesis. He will begin his thesis work in spring 2008.
