Overview
Program Director
Andrew Engelward
The best math teachers combine a passion for teaching with a thorough knowledge of mathematics. The Master of Liberal Arts in Mathematics for Teaching (ALM) Program helps you work on both aspects of this equation. Courses challenge you to explore middle and high school mathematics in new ways as you learn from Harvard mathematicians who use their expertise to create classes that go well beyond basic math topics.
In the ALM in Mathematics for Teaching Program you can
- enhance your teaching ability by boosting your mathematical skill.
- investigate how to inspire your students to enjoy and explore math on their own.
- refresh your knowledge of mathematics in preparation for a career change to math instruction.
- explore a particular aspect of math education by completing a master’s thesis project.
