Certificate in Environmental Management

The Certificate in Environmental Management is designed for professionals working in local, state, and federal agencies; nongovernmental environmental groups; industry; and consulting firms who need to gain or improve their existing environmental management skills to enhance their ability to do their current jobs. In the program you can advance in your current career or put your skills to work in a new position in the environmental field.

The CEM can be completed entirely online.

Requirements at a Glance

To earn the certificate, you take eight courses for graduate credit: three core courses (ENVR E-101, E-102, and E-105), an ecology course, and four electives. You must earn a grade of B− or higher in each course.

See Certificate Requirements.

Getting Started in the Program

Before you apply, you must take three certificate courses, including ENVR E-101, and earn a B or higher in each. The prerequisite courses are a good way to test the waters before you commit. Upon admission to the program, they count toward the certificate (be sure to select courses that fulfill certificate requirements).
