Accepted Courses
The Extension School offers a range of courses that apply toward the ALM degree.
Accounting, communication in business, computer science, education, engineering sciences, expository writing, finance, information systems management, journalism, management and operations, marketing, mathematics, museum studies, organizational behavior and human resources, physics, and speech courses do not count toward the ALM in the 15 fields. A few exceptions exist within particular fields only. Check the degree course search for your field. Courses in creative writing may count only toward a concentration in literature and creative writing; only the CREA courses listed in the degree course search count toward that concentration.
Candidates should first review the complete degree requirements and download a requirements worksheet from the requirements summary page.
Then candidates may use the degree course search to find 2007–08 courses that fulfill requirements. Candidates may search by the following criteria:
- how a course fulfills degree requirements, including field courses, Harvard instructor and seminar requirements, and electives
- whether a course is offered on campus or online
- when a course is offered: term, day, or time
