When to Register
The registration, late registration, and withdrawal deadlines are the dates by which transactions must be completed online or forms must be postmarked, delivered to 51 Brattle Street, or dropped in the 24-hour registration box at that address.
Online registration for degree, certificate, and diploma candidates begins a few days before registration for all students. Students should refer to the Calendar for the dates that apply to them.
Students should register as early in the registration period as possible if they intend to register for limited-enrollment courses or if they need access to their Harvard computer accounts or course websites by the start of classes. Otherwise, they may register and make course changes without penalty until the registration deadline for each term.
Registration forms submitted within the two weeks before the first day of registration are held and processed on that day; forms received earlier are returned, as are forms received after late registration.
During the first week of each term, nonregistered students may attend open classes. After registration ends, only registered and waitlisted students may attend classes.
Students who register late are subject to instructor policies concerning late work.
