Eligibility Requirements
Students must apply each year to receive financial assistance. In order to be considered for financial aid for fall 2005 and spring 2006, Extension School students must:
- be officially admitted to the program
- be US citizens or eligible noncitizens
- not be in default on a federal student loan*
- not owe money on a federal student grant*
- have registered with the Selective Service if required
- maintain satisfactory academic progress (see below)
- not be receiving financial aid from another school for the term in question
- be in good academic and financial standing with the Division of Continuing Education
- meet enrollment requirements for available funds
- complete and submit all financial aid application materials by the deadlines
- If students meet all of the above requirements, they may be eligible for need-based federal, state, and institutional financial aid. If they do not meet these requirements, they may be eligible for private sources of funding only.
* Students are considered eligible if they have made satisfactory arrangements to repay it.
If students meet all of the requirements, they may be eligible for financial aid. If they do not meet these requirements, they will most likely be limited to Other Sources of Funding.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
Students must make satisfactory academic progress in their program as determined by the Financial Aid Office in order to be eligible to receive financial assistance. In general, to make satisfactory academic progress, students must successfully complete at least two-thirds of the courses they attempt and maintain grades consistent with the graduation requirement for their academic programs. A detailed description of satisfactory academic progress requirements is mailed to students with their financial aid award letters and is available upon request from the Financial Aid Office.
Students who do not make satisfactory academic progress lose financial aid eligibility. Satisfactory academic progress is determined by a review of a student's academic record at the end of each semester. Students should speak with their academic and financial aid advisors to learn what is necessary to regain financial aid eligibility.
