Boston Globe: Instructor examines evangelicals’ political future

July 9, 2006 — Many people associate evangelical Christians with the “religious right.” However, Harvey Cox, instructor of RELI E-1076 Religion and Politics in Current Fundamentalist Movements and Hollis Professor of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School, asserts that this is not an accurate generalization. He writes about a new generation of evangelical leaders and their politically progressive past and present in an article on the Boston Globe website.

Podcast takes popular course global

July 5, 2006 — In the fall of 2005, lectures from instructor David Malan’s popular course, CSCI E-1 Understanding Computers and the Internet, were posted online as podcasts. Since then Malan has gained international attention as people worldwide download and enjoy his lessons. Harvard Magazine: Instructor studies meanings of genocide

July 5, 2006 — Jens Meierhenrich, the German-born instructor for GOVT E-1735 The Geneva Conventions, focuses his scholarly work on researching genocide and transitional justice to find, as he puts it, “a lens to revisit my own country’s history.” As part of his research, he’s taking a group of students to Rwanda this summer. Harvard Startups author series begins July 16

July 5, 2006 — On Sunday, July 16, from 1–3 pm, Joel Shulman, professor of entrepreneurship at Babson College and the author of Growing Bigger by Getting Smaller, talks about the co-creation of ventures involving large companies and entrepreneurial teams. Graduates and faculty awarded prizes at Commencement

Former student’s short story collection debuts

June 8, 2006 — Alicia L. Conroy, author of a new collection of stories, Lives of Mapmakers, credits the Extension School with her development as a writer. Read the Somerville Journal article.

82-year-old woman earns bachelor’s degree

June 8, 2006 — At 82, Elizabeth V. McNeil was the oldest graduate at this year’s Harvard Commencement, accepting her Bachelor of Liberal Arts from the Extension School. Read the Boston Globe article.
