Registered credit students at the Extension School, whether beginning or veteran writers, can meet with Writing Center tutors who help them look critically at their writing. Students can discuss with tutors such writing topics as thesis, organization, focus, style, and format. The center does not provide proofreading or editing services. Individual sessions last 50 minutes. Students may sign up by calling the Writing Center, (617) 495-4163. Since tutoring services are in high demand, students should make appointments in advance. No more than five appointments per student may be scheduled each term. Students who withdraw from courses cannot use the Writing Center.
The Writing Center, located in the Grossman Library, is open October 4 to January 13 in the fall and February 14 to May 19 in the spring. The center's hours are Monday and Tuesday, 5-9 pm, and Wednesday and Thursday, 3-7 pm.
