Parking in Cambridge is extremely limited, and students are strongly encouraged to use public transportation. All parking on Harvard property is by permit only. The University Parking Office offers a limited number of permits for use of nearby University garages or parking lots, from 5 pm to 12 midnight. These permits are valid only in the designated garage or lot to which they are assigned. Permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis; Broadway Garage sells out quickly.
Students must apply for the permits in person at the Parking Office and pay by cash, traveler's check, personal check, or credit card. Garage permits cost $200 for the year, September 1, 2004-June 30, 2005; parking lot permits cost $180. Permits may be prorated for students enrolled in only one term. Visit the parking services website for more information.
Permits are available for the fall semester starting Monday, September 20 and are not sold prior to this date. The Parking Office is open 8 am-8 pm during the first week of classes each term: Monday, September 20 to Thursday, September 23 in the fall; and Monday, January 31 to Thursday, February 3 in the spring. The remainder of the year the office is open Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm.
