All Extension School students are eligible for free computer accounts on the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) system. Liberal arts, professional, certificate, and diploma candidates may activate their accounts when they are admitted and may keep their accounts for the duration of their programs. All other registered students may activate their accounts just before classes begin each term and may keep their accounts only for the duration of the terms in which they are registered. Students who wish to activate their accounts during the first week of classes should register as early as possible during the registration period.

Students can take advantage of Harvard's computer facilities at 53 Church Street and the Science Center to access the Internet or complete assignments. An FAS account is required to log-in to computers at the Science Center labs. There is a five-cent-per-page charge for standard laser printing at the Science Center. An FAS account is not required to use the computer lab at 53 Church Street, and printing there is free.

If students do not already have FAS accounts, they should follow the instructions in this section to create one. Students must have a Harvard University ID number and the month and day of their birth on record in the Extension School's Registrar's Office. Students who do not already have a Harvard ID number will receive one during their first term of registration and are informed of this number on their registration confirmations. Students also may find out their Harvard ID number and verify their account eligibility via online services (after logging in, students should select "Check Computer/E-Mail Account Access" from the Personal and Computer Account Information menu).

Extension School students are eligible for special student pricing on computer hardware and software from Apple, IBM, Microsoft, and GovConnection. They may review these special prices via online services. (Select "Harvard Computer Product Center" from the main menu.)
