The registration, late registration, and withdrawal deadlines that are listed on this website and printed in the catalogue are the dates by which transactions must be completed online or forms must be postmarked or dropped in the 24-hour registration box inside the gate at 51 Brattle Street. Students are advised to keep online registration confirmations and copies of registration forms submitted in person and by mail. The Extension School is not responsible for forms that are lost in transit.
As an experiment this year, online registration begins for candidates in Extension School liberal arts, professional, certificate, and diploma programs a few days before registration begins for all other students. Online registration begins at 5 am.
Registration forms mailed or delivered to 51 Brattle Street before August 23 for the fall term and December 6 for the spring term are processed on those dates, along with forms that are received on those dates. Registration and course change forms received after the late registration deadlines are returned.
Students should register as early in the registration period as possible if they intend to register for limited-enrollment courses or courses that meet in restricted areas (for which proof of registration is required, as noted in course descriptions), or if they want to activate their Harvard computer accounts by the start of classes. Otherwise, they may register and make course changes without penalty until the registration deadline for each term.
During the first week of classes in each term, nonregistered students may attend open classes. After registration ends, only registered and waitlisted students may attend classes.
