Eligibility Requirements
Students must apply each year to receive financial assistance. In order to be considered for financial aid for fall 2004, spring 2005, and summer 2005 through the Extension School students must:
- be officially admitted to the program
- be US citizens or eligible noncitizens
- not be in default on prior federal loans or owe repayment of Title IV funds (Stafford Loans, Federal Pell Grants, and Federal Perkins Loans) and state funding
- have registered with the Selective Service (if required)
- maintain satisfactory academic progress (see below)
- not be receiving financial aid from another school for the term in question
- be in good academic and financial standing with the Division of Continuing Education
- meet minimum enrollment requirements for funding
- complete and submit all financial aid application materials by the deadlines
- demonstrate financial need through the financial aid application process
If students meet all of the requirements, they may be eligible for financial aid. If they do not meet these requirements, they will most likely be limited to Other Sources of Funding.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
Students who receive financial assistance at Harvard Extension School must make satisfactory academic progress in their programs as outlined in this catalogue. Students must take courses that count toward their programs and must maintain the cumulative grade-point averages required by their programs for graduation. In addition, they must successfully complete a minimum of two-thirds of the courses in which they enroll. If students are not making satisfactory academic progress when their records are reviewed at the end of a semester, they lose financial aid eligibility. Students should speak with their academic and financial aid advisors to find out what they need to do to regain satisfactory academic progress status.
